The channel is ever-changing and evolving and research among those working in social media reveals many marketers have gaps in their knowledge, as a new infographic shows. It’s essential the gaps are filled.

Success with social media as a marketing channel can be measured, but as a marketing skill it is nebulous, intangible – honing it is like nailing jelly to a tree; herding cats. The UK DMA’S Social Media Council conducted research among those working in social media, measuring their knowledge to learn where the average marketer is right now, to test what it is these ‘experts’ really know.
Julie Atherton (pictured), chairman of the DMA Social Media Council, said: “The research shows the maturity of social media. No longer the responsibility of a specialist department, knowledge and skills in social are essential for all marketers in building strong customer-focused brands.”
